Junior Karate should above all be fun!
This is not a view shared by all instructors but it is the essence of our Club. Of course the student will be required to train hard and work towards their gradings but they should not be forced to train, they should want to!
Our junior Karate lessons teach discipline, respect, confidence and control, improve co-ordination and help to prepare our students for challenges in life.
We welcome students from the age of 5 upwards. If you would like your child to try a class please call to check availability as classes are filling up fast!
Bushido Warriors are lucky enough to have a very experienced and highly qualified team of instructors.
Sensei Spencer and Sensei Ian have been teaching locally for over 20 years and are well known in both the local and the martial arts community.
They both have the acclaimed 'Black Belt' in a number of martial arts and have taught literally thousands of students at the club, in schools, in the workplace and of course in the community.
Sensei Spencer is a Home Office Approved Conflict Trainer and is a former specialist trainer for the Police, as well as being a national tutor for KEWAP (knife and edged weapons awareness programme)
Both Sensei Spencer and Sensei Ian taught under the late Bill Tanikie and continue to pass on the knowledge they have learnt from Bill as well as other instructors.
Our fully matted dojo (training hall) is set with Epsom Common as its backdrop. The large car park space in front of us, adjacent to the Christ Church is a fantastic setting provides space for parents dropping or collecting students. Inside, there is enough space for students to train and for parents to sit and watch if they wish to.
Bushido, means Way of the Warrior (Samurai). So are we Warrior Warriors?
The reason this name was chosen is that I have seen many people train in Martial Arts and although they may have become Warriors ( some in their own mind!), not all follow the Way of the Warrior.
It is for that reason that we are Warriors that follow the Code of Bushido!
The Warrior Code, or The Seven Virtues of Bushido, similar to the western idea of Chivalry, are as follows and all of us should strive to live our life by them for the benefit of ourselves and others.
The Seven Virtues of Bushido
Aikijitsu is the Art of the Samurai.
This dynamic and highly effective martial art incorporates locks, holds, nerves, pressure points and knockouts designed for warfare and can be applied to modern day scenarios.
Our classes are safely instructed so that these techniques can be practiced without danger to the individual.
Classes are suitable for ages 16 and upwards.
